About Us

Nukanti means ”us” in the indigenous language of the Ingas who live in the south Andean region of Colombia, with the majority in the Amazonian region, Putumayo. This name was chosen to represent the power we all have within us to change the fate of many disadvantaged children and youth all over the world and improve the lives of many artisans.

NukantiShop is a bridge between artisans from all over the globe and the world market, creating opportunities for fair trade, using recycled and eco-friendly materials, and investing back into social programs for children. Through your purchase, you can impact the lives of many artisans and children we work with!

All items represented by NukantiShop are handcrafted by a team of locals using natural materials typical of that region such as the Tagua seed, Acai seed, Seabean, Coconut shell, Brazil wood, raw iron, canvas, and wicker amongst others. More than just simple objects, we create a story with each product and a unique creative environment with the work of our most talented artists. NukantiShop attempts to capture the beauty and warmth of each of the artist’s community and present a different image of their countries, rather than merely those of war and poverty. Our products can be purchased here on the web or by contacting us for wholesale orders. We export directly to our clients anywhere in the world!

NukantiShop is a non-profit program of the Nukanti Foundation for Children, an independent international non-profit organization, devoted to investing in education, healing and hope for children, particularly in communities devastated by violence, poverty and armed conflict (www.nukantifoundation.org).
